Something For Everyone to Love

Bellagio & Lake Como
Whether it's a whispering glide of a gondola in the VENETO , the frangrant countryside of TUSCANY, the stunning lakes of LOMBARDIA, the rugged coastline of LIGURIA, the majestic Dolomites of both TRENTINO AND THE ALTO ADIGE, the rural patchwork of LE MARCHE, the Spirituality of UMBRIA, the castle-graced land of ABRUZZO, the fantastic food (Italy's Breadbasket) of EMILIA ROMAGNA, the enchanting coastine of CAMPANIA, the Eternal City of LAZIO, the multitude of ancient olive trees in CALABRIA, the kaleidoscope of contrasts in SICILIA, the mountainous regions of MOLISE, the glorious architecture of the churches and castles of PUGLIA, or the many festivals of SARDINIA, there is something for everyone to love in unforgettable ITALY.
Monument at Gaeta's Church on the Hill

Church on the Hill in Glorious Gaeta

Gaeta, between Rome and Naples, is a beautiful place with its castle, its bay, and its churches. The church on the hill that looks out over the ancient part of Gaeta has this astounding statue, which I never tired of seeing.
Verona's Roman Arena

Verona's Enormous Roman Arena

One of the highlights of visiting Verona is to see the ancient Roman Arena that was built in the first centry AD. This Roman amphitheater is the 3rd largest in the world and was used for gladiator combat. Today it is still used for such activities as fairs, bullfights, and opera productions.
Statue in Boboli Gardens

Boboli Gardens: A gift From the Medici

In 1549, the Medici had the Boboli Gardens created. Thank goodness. These gardens are behind the Pitti Palace and are comprised of both formal, symmetrical gardens and wild groves of Oak and Cypress trees. Throughout the gardens, wonderful statues, such as the one in the photograph, greet and enchant visitors.
Allan and the Leaning Tower of Pisa

Sometimes, You Just "Gotta Be a Tourist"

Even though I was not enamoured with Pisa, I still suggest people see it, and you might as well do the "tourist" thing of having your photo taken in front of the tower.
Allan on Famed Serapo Beach

Gaeta's Famed Beach: Serapo

Our first glimpse of Gaeta was to see %fSerapo Beach. Since it was the end of February, it was empty. However, in the height of the summer months, there is not even an inch empty on Serapo Beach
Snow in March in Southern Italy

Snow in Southern Italy in March

On our way to Sicily from Gaeta, we were so shocked to find that it was snowing. We decided to document it by having me take a photo of Allan throwing a snowball.
Ponte Sant' Angelo

A Link to the Center of Rome

This bridge is called Ponte Sant' Angelo. Once, the bridge linked the mausoleum with the center of Rome. Today it's a place where "peddlers" sell fake purses, sunglasses, and CD's.
