Please See all of the PhotographsWeather permitting, the Aquatic Center opens on Memorial Day weekend and opens daily in June until September.
This Aquatic Park opened a three years ago and has been well received. The Center features:
1. Zero Depth entry for all swimmers, which is especially excellent for small children. 2. 1500 swimmer capacity-largest center in Lake County. 3. Slides galore: tube, drop, body, speed, youth and toddler. Sabrina Dee loved the slides! 4. Cascading waterfall for all to enjoy. Old and young alike enjoy this feature. 5. Concessions and party deck, which the teenagers especially enjoy. 6. Children's interactive play area. {This includes a huge sand lot] 7. Grassy picnic area 8. Spray ground accessible to the public at no cost. This is just outside the entrance. 9. Handicapped accessible
Equipment: This Labor Day, Jill and I took Sabrina Dee to the Aquatic Center, and she was so thrilled. She loved all the water features, the slides, and the safe, shallow depth.
The facility is set in a safe, conveniently located community park featuring 46 acres of open space, athletic fields, pathways, playground, ten-acre nature area and a fishing pond.

Theme: Golfing
There are two golf course IN Gurnee:
1. Heather Ridge Golf Course When you think of a nine-hole golf course, you probably assume that it is easy.
That is not the case with Heather Ridge. Despite being only nine holes, it is one of the better golf courses in Lake County. It has one par-five, mixed in with two par- threes, and six par-fives; this is by no means your average 9-hole club. It has been chosen as one of the BEST nine hole courses in the STATE! Sporty and never boring. (My husband works here)
2. Bittersweet Gof Club One of the newer courses in Lake County. Bittersweet is a difficult course for beginner golfers. It is even a challenge for a veteran golfer. You must hit accurate irons or you lose the ball! It has absolutely gorgeous scenery.
Other courses in nearby areas:
Antioch Golf Club, Antioch (847-395-3004) Bonnie Brook Golf Course. Wailegam (847-360-4730) Brae Loch Golf Course, Grayslake (847-223-5542) Foss Park Golf Course, North Chicago (847-689-7490) Marriot LIncolnshire Golf, Lincolnshire (847-634-5935 Midlane Country Club, Wadsworth (847-623-4653)
Equipment: Golf Clubs and Golf Bag Golf shoes and Golf glove Golf shirt with a collar Golf slakes, skirt, or shorts (just above knee)
Golf can be played in this area from end of March through October

The Centre Club is a world-class health club with all the facilities you'll ever need.
If you wish to see it, take a tour, and perhaps have a visitor's pass, just go to the front desk and inquire.
This club is in excess of 60,000 sq. feet. It has 1/10 mile cushioned running track, Aerobics training center, free weight training area, Racquetball courts, regulation basketball court, variable resistance machine weight training area with the most advanced equipment, stairmaster, rowing machines, bicycles, and treadmills.
There is also a Pro Shop, free supervised playroom for children, FIVE-LANE, TWENTY-FIVE METER LAP AND EXERCISE POOL, demonstration kitchen, Deli, classrooms and clinical areas.
Furthermore, there are fully-appointed locker rooms with suna, steam room, and whirlpool, assisted changing areas, and a warm water therapy pool. With an appointment, you can have a massage.
This is a medically-based program. Members undergo the most thorough fitness evaluation (fitness condition through exercise testing, body fat analysis, flexibility assessment and a coronary risk profile with blood work-up).
I can personally testify to the VALUE of using The Center. When I had a nerve problem in my elbow, I was prescribed to to rehab in the POOL. I used it for about 3 months, and the rehab was successful.
There is also an array of rehabiliatative services including Cardiac Rehabilitation (Phase II and III), physical therapy, special classes and research programs to combat the effects of chronic diseases, and a full-service Sports Medicine Department is also available.
This Centre is affiliated with Condell Hospital and so all the services are supported by the physicians and medical experts at Condell Medical Center.
As you can see from the photograph, the parking lot is always full. It's a very busy and popular place
Equipment: You need work-out clothes that are lightweight and of a style that will not get caught on any equipment. If you plan to swim, you need a swim suit and perhaps swimming shoes.

hunterV Thu Mar 27, 2008 15:49 UTC Hello, Dee! Your description is very special and interesting! It's a great guide about the place! | Stephen-KarenConn Wed Feb 27, 2008 01:30 UTC Your pages just keep getting bigger and better. Glad to see you include the churches, public library and nursing home - not typical tourist spots, but good to know. Great restaurant updates, for Gurnee and also Chicago. | toonsarah Thu Sep 20, 2007 13:48 UTC Great page Dee, especially the tempting restaurant tips. Lovely photos of Sabrina Dee at the Aquatic Center. And I think I would enjoy the Mother Rudd House | karenincalifornia Mon Sep 10, 2007 15:33 UTC It's kind of sad to see our agricultural lands disappear, but nice to miles of trails, beautiful golf courses and and IMAX! That 9 hole course where Alan works at sounds challenging! |
